Week of June 12th

The film festival was better than I expected. The videos actually made people feel all types of emotions. A lot of times the films made them laugh, made them clap, made them sad, and most importantly influenced them(PSAs). I overheard conversations of people, and even a teacher talking about the films being surprisingly good. I would have to agree, the hard work that students invested actually paid off.

Week of June 5th

This week my production company and I were able to film another interview. After school we will have to reshoot an interview because we could not get the microphone to work the first time we shot that interview. On the other days we were either editing or uploading footage. We only need student interviews now and our mockumentary will be complete.

Week of May 29

This week my production company has been real busy. We stayed after school and shot two interviews, and on the rest of the days we edited the film. Our mockumentary is finally coming together, but we still need to shoot a couple of more interviews and field footage, but so far we have been productive.

Week of May 22nd

This week my production company and I spent most of our time shooting. We had some issues because we ran our of tape twice. We scheduled interviews and did a bit of editing. We will continue to shoot and import our footage to start editing and putting the film together ASAP.

Week of May 15

This week my production company and I were able to film my part of the interview. We were also able to get some field footage and we had to film the establishing shot once again. That took up a large amount of time since we had to go outside of the school and wait until there was no one in the front of the school. When we weren't shooting we were inputing the footage and deleting unnecessary clips. We will continue to shoot students interviews first, and then teacher interviews.

Week of May 8th

This week we continued to come up with an edit the responses for the teachers and students. We also rehearsed some of the responses, but due to the AP testing and the weird schedules, we were not able to begin shooting. We began shooting on monday.

Week of May 1st

This week my group came up with questions that we could ask the teachers and the students for our mockumentary. Then we began to write our script. A mockumentary does not require a script, but we wanted guidelines as to what the actors had to say. Yesterday we finished the script, therefore we can start shooting now. Today we cannot shoot due to the lack of time, but we start to shoot asap.

week of April 24

This week my group decided that our next film will be a mockumentary. First, we assigned jobs so that we can have order. Since we are a team of three, we each ended up getting two jobs each. We also pitched in our idea, got approval, and began coming up with questions to ask the people who will be interviewed. That is as far as we got. Today we will continue to plan for our film and set up schedules to shoot.

Week of april 17

This week we completely finished out PSA and began discussing new ideas for our next film. It got a bit more complicated because now we have less group members. We pitched in ideas for about two days and so far we are considering making a mockumentary. We were also considering making a music video, but it was complicated since we could not seem to agree on a song. Today, we will continue to discuss the video and try to get started as soon as possible.

Week of April 10

This week we nearly finished our PSA. I'd say we'll be done with it by Tuesday. All the editing is done, the transitions are there, and the voice over was input, all we need is the music at the beginning of the video. I think the PSA came out very good and I think it is effective. I enjoyed the process of making it. We all made an effort, I believe that is what made it good. Our next video will be a music video, but like I mentioned in a previous blog, two of our group members will be leaving us, therefore it will only be 3 group memebers. We are not sure what song or even what genre we will do.

Week of April 3rd

This week we finished filming. On tuesday afterschool we all got togther and filmed the final footage of our PSA. Since then we have been editing, which is kind of difficuly because we have so much footage and a limit as to how long the PSA can be. We have also been coming up with ideas on our next film, which will be a music video, but things got complicated because two of our members will not be with us for the next film. Those two memers have a very busy schedule due to their jobs, and they don't want to slow us down, therefore our next fim will be a group of 3. I imagine we will need to work twice as hard, but we will give it our all.

Week of March 27

I am working with Astrid, Byron, Elisa & Kailey on a PSA advertising pet adoption. For the first few days we were mostly planning and trying to get permission to film at a pet shelter. Forrtunately, we got permission and on March 25th we were able to film. We showed up to the pet shelter in Downey with the equipment, we spoke to the lady at the front desk, and very soon a security walked us over to where the animals were kept. They did not allow us to bring the dogs out of the cages, but we got some good footage. Most dogs wagged their tails at us which made me happy, yet sad at the same time because they have such limited space and nobody to express their love and loyalty to. Hopefully this PSA is effective and will actually get people to adopt a pet. After shooting we got straight to editing. So far we have about 50% of our PSA complete.

What Music Means to Me

Music is a part of my everyday life; it brings out emotion in me. For example, I start off my day by listening to music because I have an alarm on Pandora. I leave it on while im gettin ready for school and it puts me in a better mood. I listen to music while im doing homework, working out, driving,  doing chores, when im going to sleep,  walking somewhere, and while im showering. I feel like music is such a huge factor in everyone's life because people can relate to it as well as bond through it. For example, I feel great when another person and I like the same music, therefore sing the same song. It may sound corny, but it just makes people's bond even stronger. I am latina, therefore I learned to like spanish music such as corridos, but I also enjoy reggaeton, and main stream music. I would say my favorite music to listen to it bachata, especially if it is by Romeo Santos. I believe music can also define what kind of a person you are.

The Most Interesting Person in the World

The most interesting person that I have met is my aunt . I think she is interesting because she is very sneaky. She kind of lives a double life. She lives in Modesto with her 3 daughters and her son and occasionally her partner visits them. She does not work, yet she always wears the best clothes and always seems to be shopping. She goes out on the weekends to dances, the casino, etc. She gets into a lot of fights because she has a short temper. Almost every other weekend she comes to Los Angeles, where her husband lives. I say she is sneaky because her husband never catches her lies. She always seems to leave and return hours later, but I think she is interesting because despite her crazy actions, she has a kind heart. Growing up she was always the one giving me advice. She is interesting because to the world she is just a normal mom, while secretly she has a ton of things going on.

My anti drug

My antidrug would de dancing or taking long showers. I know many people take showers to get clean, but I use my shower time for that and at the same time think and relax. Dancing takes my mind off of things as well. I feel like when im mad and i go to dance class i dance harder which is beneficial for my body and my mind at the same time. I know that many people turn to actual drugs in hard times, but i try to turn to something that will not hurt me but rather help me.

An Inconvinient Truth

The part that had the greatest impact on me was the scene with the animals and the high temperatures. The polar bear representation made me feel sad because humans are the ones causing the global warming, but the animals are the ones paying for it. The animals have no fault, they cannot do anything to help theselves, but we can. We can take matter into our hands, but we continue to ignore the problem. The other factor that affected me was the high temperatures, because I hate when it gets extremely hot, and this documentary made me realize that it will continue to get hotter. It scares me to know that in only 14 years records were broken in many cities. I know that it will get worse, and then those previous broken records will be broken. Extreme temperatures are not only uncomftorable, but they are also dangerous. High temperatures do not only affect humans, but also animals and the oceans. We have the soulutions, but the problem is that not everybody is willing to work together to reduce global warming. If we don't do it, nobody else will.
